Sachin Tendulkar is widely considered to be one of the best batters ever, having scored more Test and ODI runs than anyone else in the history of the sport.
Since his retirement from international cricket in 2013, Virat Kohli has replaced Tendulkar as India 's leading cricketer and that has unsurprisingly led to fans comparing the two.
And in a recent interview with American journalist Graham Bensinger , Tendulkar was asked who he thought was the better cricketer out of himself and Kohli.
In response, Tendulkar refused to make a decision, instead replying: "How about having both of us in one team!"
Kohli, meanwhile, has previously said he does not deserve to be compared to Tendulkar, labelling him "the most complete batsman ever".
Speaking on Breakfast With Champions , Kohli said: "You can only compare those who are worthy of the comparison.
"You are comparing me to someone because of whom I started playing cricket in the first place. I stand no chance in terms of skill level. He's the most complete batsman ever.
"How can you even compare? I've always said it's not fair to him. Because of what he's given us, he doesn't deserve to be compared to us. This generation, no chance."
In the same interview, Tendulkar weighed in on the debate over who is the better footballer between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Tendulkar is an ardent football fan and previously co-owned Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters.
When asked to pick between Messi and Ronaldo, Tendulkar opted for the Paris Saint-Germain forward, replying: "Messi is more of my type."
