Former Coronation Street star Sacha Parkinson has just become a mum for the first time – and fans can’t get enough of her adorable announcement. The 32-year-old actress, who played Sian Power on the ITV soap, revealed she gave birth to a baby girl last week and has named her Sadie.
She broke the news on Instagram with a pair of tender black-and-white photos showing her newborn, captioning them simply: “1 whole week of Sadie.” The minimalist post gave fans their very first glimpse of the tiny arrival and had everyone swooning.
The comments section quickly filled with love and excitement from fans and fellow soap stars. Lucy Fallon, best known as Bethany Platt, wrote: “Gorgeous. Hope you’re all ok.” Strictly champ Ellie Leach was just as smitten, commenting: “Soooooo beautiful, congratulations.” And Sally Dynevor, who plays Sacha’s former on-screen mum Sally Metcalfe, added: “Oooooh wow congratulations. How wonderful. She’s so beautiful.”
Parkinson had first shared her pregnancy news in December, choosing Christmas Eve to surprise followers with Polaroid snaps of her baby bump. She hinted back then that 2025 was going to be a “wild” year – and it’s safe to say she wasn’t wrong, reported GB News.
This new chapter comes not long after she announced her engagement to fiancé Jon in 2023. The proposal happened during a romantic getaway, and the couple has been riding high ever since.
Sacha was a fan favourite during her four years on Coronation Street, especially for her role in the soap’s groundbreaking LGBTQ+ storyline. She and Brooke Vincent’s character Sophie Webster formed the show’s first-ever lesbian couple, a storyline that left a lasting impact and marked a key moment for representation in British TV.
Since leaving the cobbles in 2011, Parkinson has appeared in a wide range of shows, including Waterloo Road, Mr Selfridge, Cold Feet, and most recently, the ITVX thriller Platform 7, which aired in 2023.
It seems like the Corrie baby boom is in full swing too – Michelle Keegan recently welcomed her first child, a daughter named Palma Elizabeth Wright, with husband Mark Wright. The couple announced their news in early March, sharing intimate photos and being flooded with congratulatory messages ever since.
Between the baby joy and throwback memories, soap fans love seeing their favourite stars shine in new roles—especially when the roles are as sweet as this.
