Sacha Baron Cohen ‘furious’ after Isla Fisher breaks silence on divorce

Sacha Baron Cohen is reportedly “furious” with former wife Isla Fisher after she broke her silence on their split in a candid newspaper interview.

The Borat star, 53, is said to have “hit the roof” after Fisher told The Sunday Times how she had relied on “the women” in her life to help her through the divorce.

The couple are reportedly locked in a battle over their £60 million fortune, according to MailOnline.

Cohen and Fisher announced their split in April last year and told press that they had jointly filed to divorce in 2023. This was in spite of the timing of the announcement, shortly after actress Rebel Wilson’s claims of bullying by Cohen on the set of 2016’s Grimsby - which he denies.

The couple, who have three children together, had one of Hollywood's longest-lasting marriages until announcing their split, saying that "after a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down".

The announcement came just weeks after actress Rebel Wilson's claimed Cohen tried to "bully" her on set during the filming of Grimsby in 2016, branding him a "massive a**hole".

Her claims are strongly denied by Cohen.

In a Sunday Times interview last week, Fisher said: “It’s the most difficult thing that I’ve been through and I’ve learnt so much about myself in the process.”

The Wedding Crashers star added: “I never imagined my family being separated but we are committed and loving parents.”

The actress, 49, said her own parents separated when she was nine and she “dreams” of replicating their peaceful co-parenting arrangement.

She said: “Those women have been there for me,” she told The Times. “I’m actually going to get emotional. I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It has been this expansive learning curve.”

A source claiming to be close to Cohen said: “This comment left Sacha furious. It felt like a blatant statement that she was on side with Rebel, the whole women sticking together thing was obvious and that is what he drew from the situation and it has made him very cross and upset.

“Sacha was fuming when he read that. He felt utterly betrayed.”
