Sabrina Carpenter has taken a brutal swipe at ex Barry Keoghan in a Valentine’s Day music video for a new version of Please, Please, Please, featuring Dolly Parton.
The original video last June starred Irish actor Keoghan alongside Carpenter while they were still dating and showed the pair getting romantic in prison.
But after they split in December, Carpenter is perhaps keen to rewrite history with a new version of Please, Please, Please and has roped in the country singer as a featured artist.
The new version has attracted 3.2m views since it dropped on YouTube on Friday.
The video features Carpenter and Parton in a black-and-white, Thelma & Louise-style sequence, driving a pickup truck. It ends with a shot of a man bound and gagged in the truck’s trailer, a bag over his head.
Fans have noticed that the man’s outfit closely resembles the one Keoghan wore in the original music video.
And fans are loving the twist.
“Barry was the only man to ever survive a Sabrina video so she had to come back and make things right,” said one commenter on YouTube.
Another added: “Her getting DOLLY PARTON on this song, dropping it on Valentine's Day, and shading Barry in this music video is such a slay I love this so much.”
Please, Please, Please was the second single from Carpenter's sixth album Short n' Sweet.
She has since released a deluxe edition with five more tracks, including the new version of the song which features Parton.
Keoghan reacted angrily to the fuss online about the relationship in his first comments since their split.
He wrote: "The messages I have received - no person should ever have to read them.
"Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.
"Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.
"Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also."
