During her time in Australia opening for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour, Sabrina Carpenter embraced some local slang and even attempted an Australian accent during her performance in Sydney. The 24-year-old singer treated the audience to a setlist that included songs like “Read Your Mind,” “Vicious,” and a cover of Olivia Newton John’s “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from Grease. Carpenter concluded her performance with her hit song, “Nonsense,” where she playfully modified the outro with humorous lyrics.
One of the standout moments was when Carpenter sang, “I can’t believe a plane can fly this far / I met the cutest Aussie at the bar / He said, ‘Are you from here?’ / I said, ‘Naur.’” This playful banter showcased Carpenter's sense of humor and connection with the audience.
In a previous interview, Carpenter discussed the creation of the “Nonsense” outro, revealing that she couldn't resist writing fake versions of the chorus. She expressed her delight in incorporating her silly sense of humor into the song, emphasizing that it added a unique touch to her album.
Another memorable moment on The Eras Tour was when Carpenter joined Swift on stage for a special performance of a mashup of Swift’s “White Horse” and “Coney Island.” This collaboration came after Carpenter's opening set was shortened due to weather conditions, highlighting the camaraderie between the two artists.
Carpenter had previously opened for Swift during the Mexican, Brazilian, and Argentinian shows of The Eras Tour in late 2023. She later rejoined Swift for the Australian leg of the tour and is set to open for her in Singapore before Swift continues on to Europe, with Paramore taking over as the opening act.
