Sabri Lamouchi identifies turning point for Cardiff City against West Brom

Cardiff City boss Sabri Lamouchi believes changing the system at half-time was the key moment in the Bluebrds' draw with West Brom.

Cardiff came away with a point for the first time under Lamouchi thanks to Sory Kaba's second-half header, which cancelled out Daryl Dike's goal early on in the encounter.

Kaba had to start the game on the bench, though, with Isaak Davies starting for the first time under the Frenchman. The Bluebirds struggled to really impress themselves on the Baggies before the break, before Kaba's introduction changed everything.

"To be fair, I would have signed before the game for a point," the Bluebirds boss said after match.

"We conceded and for the first time we came back in the game. It's the first draw for us, with me. The second half, I liked the attitude, the performance. We tried to disturb them.

"We missed too much, against a good team. But one more lovely goal from Kaba and we are back in the game and keep the result. It's an important point for us - especially against a good team.

"They are playing for a different target, probably the play-off, we changed many things - systems, players, many tired in the second half - but we never gave up and that is a positive.

"We created some situations and probably with better control, better cross, better shot, it would maybe different."

Cardiff were markedly better in the second half after Sory Kaba replaced Isaak Davies. It altered City's shape and gave them more of a focal point at the top end of the pitch.

Speaking about the half-time substitution, Lamouchi said: "I said to [Davies], it's not him, it's not about his performance.

"He tried, he was not the worst in the first half. He did well and exactly what I'm asking of him.

"But I couldn't stay like that. I had to try and put Kaba on. I had to change the system; they were probably thinking we would play with two strikers, so I put Kaba on in the second half."

Kaba recently said it was a dream for him to play in English football and he is certainly enjoying himself, having scored three goals in his eight games for the Bluebirds.

Lamouchi said of the forward's contribution since his arrival: "He is right to dream and he is doing everything right for the dream to come true for him.

"But he is doing well. He scored an important goal for us. He is doing his job."
