Saatva vs Helix mattress: Who has the best Labor Day sale for side sleepers?

In this Saatva Classic Vs Helix Midnight Luxe comparioson image, the Saatva is seen on the left hand side and the Helix is on the right.

Saatva and Helix are two of our favorite sleep brands, and they're responsible for two of our top-rated mattresses for side sleepers. Both brands are also behind two of the biggest Labor Day mattress sales, so which mattress for side sleepers should you shop today?

Our sleep experts have tested the Saatva Classic and the Helix Midnight Luxe, and they both take a place in our guide to the best mattresses of 2024. Side sleepers need pressure relief at the shoulders, hips, and knees, and both beds deliver this in spades.

In this guide we'll break down which side sleeper mattress deal is best for you — today you can save $400 on all sizes of the Saatva Classic, and enjoy 27% off the Midnight Luxe mattress with code TOMS27. Not quite what you need? There's plenty of other options to shop in today's Labor Day mattress sale, and we've rounded up the best of them.

Saatva vs Helix: Labor Day mattress for side sleepers sale

  • Saatva is offering $400 off all orders over $1,000
  • Save 27% on Helix mattresses with code TOMS27
  • In the sale, a queen Classic is $1,695 and a queen Midnight Luxe is $1,780

You can save $400 on any mattress purchase over $1,000 in the Saatva Labor Day sale, which includes all sizes of the Classic. This reduces a queen to $1,695 (from $2,095), and means you can pick up a twin for just $995 (was $1,395).

This is the same Saatva mattress sale we saw for Memorial Day. We were impressed with it then, and it's still impressing us now, and it matches the lowest price we've seen for the Classic this year. The Classic was cheaper last Labor Day, but Saatva has increased the MSRP since then. We're not convinced we'll see a better price for the Classic in 2024, and that includes the Black Friday sale.

Helix is offering 25% off all mattresses in the Labor Day sale — but use our code TOMS27 to increase that saving to 27%. This is a big step up from the evergreen 20% off Helix mattress sale we normally see.

Helix did offer a 30% discount on the Midnight Luxe for Memorial Day, so in terms of money off, the Helix Labor Day sale is slightly smaller. However, Helix has sweetened the deal by adding a mega bundle to your purchase. As well as the free pillows included with the evergreen discount, Helix is giving away a free sheet set and mattress protector with each Luxe or Elite mattress.

With this big bundle you can upgrade your entire sleep setup for less. Plus, the Helix sale is sitewide, so you can save 27% on any bed bases, mattress toppers, or blankets, that might have caught your eye.

Saatva vs Helix: Which Labor Day sale is best for side sleepers?

  • Both mattresses are hybrids with pillow tops
  • Saatva Classic has gentle pressure relief and enhanced lumbar support
  • Helix has more cushioning and an increased 'hug' feel

Both the Saatva Classic and Helix Midnight Luxe feature in our best mattress for side sleepers guide — the Helix actually takes the top spot, but the Classic isn't far behind. So which should you get this Labor Day?

The Saatva Classic is a luxurious innerspring hybrid that's available in three firmness levels and two heights. Firmness if rated on a scale of one to ten, with one being super soft and ten very firm. For dedicated side sleepers, we recommend the Plush Soft (3 out of 10). However, the Luxury Firm (7 out of 10) that we tested in our Saatva Classic Mattress review will suit side sleepers who prefer a firmer support.

The Classic is primarily a spring-based build, with tall coils providing a bit of bounce. That's good news if you like freedom to move around in the night. A lumbar crown of high density foam adds extra support to the Classic, but most of the cushioning comes from the plush pillow-top surface. It's three inches thick and contours to the joints for pressure relief.

Like the Classic, the Helix Midnight Luxe features a deep pillow top and a strong spring base, but it also features multiple foam comfort layers. It doesn't have the sink-in feel of a soft all-foam bed, but the cushioning does provide incredible pressure relief at the shoulders, hips, and knees. Our lead tester described the cushioning as "blissful" in our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review.

Extra foam layers also gives the Midnight Luxe strong motion isolation, making this a good choice for bed sharers (our tester found they hardly felt their partner or kids — or even the cat — on the bed). The lumbar support is also excellent, but if you're a side sleeper who overheats at night, consider upgrading to the GlacioTex cooling cover.

Saatva vs Helix: Which side sleeper mattress should you buy in today’s Labor Day sales?

Buy the Saatva Classic if...

You like a bit of bounce to your bed: Tall springs and only a thin foam layer means the Saatva Classic has a more traditional feel. This is good for side sleepers who like to move around in the night.

You want premium benefits: Every Saatva adult mattress comes with a 365-night trial, a lifetime warranty, and free white glove delivery. These rate among the best benefits around.

You sleep hot: The Saatva Classic uses minimal cushioning, and with plenty of open coils for air to pass through, it stays a pleasant neutral temperature overnight. The Midnight Luxe can provide good cooling, but we recommend upgrading to the GlacioTex cover if you're a hot sleeper.

Buy the Helix Midnight Luxe if...

You need new bedding accessories: The Midnight Luxe comes with a pillow set, sheet set, and bedding protector, all for free. And if you need even more for your bed, the 27% off deal is sitewide and includes bedding accessories.

You share a bed: While the Saatva Classic has decent motion isolation, the Helix Midnight Luxe just pips it. If you share with a restless sleeper, the thick pillow top should absorb motion so you never feel them move.

You want a body cradling comfort: The Midnight Luxe features multiple foam layers, providing a plusher feel than the Saatva Classic. This provides exceptional pressure relief our lead reviewer described as "cloud-like comfort".
