Saatva Classic vs Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid: Price & Trial
- The Saatva Classic is a premium mattress; the Signature Hybrid is mid-range
- Saatva includes a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty
- Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120-night trial and a 10-year warranty
The Saatva Classic and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid are quite far apart when it comes to price, trials, and warranty periods.
The Saatva Classic is a handcrafted mattress and with that comes a premium price point — to the tune of a $2,099 MSRP for a queen. However, you can see anywhere between $200-$400 taken off the price. There’s not always a Saatva mattress sale but they do run regularly throughout the year so you'll want to time your purchase carefully.
On the other hand, the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is always on sale so you can just go ahead and ignore the MSRP, which is $1,332 for a queen. Right, it's 25% off, which we are used to seeing, although it can go up to 30% off during major holidays. That brings the cost of a queen down to $999 (or less).
The Saatva Classic comes with industry-leading perks: a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty. With Brooklyn Bedding, you get a 120-night trial and a 10-year warranty. Shipping is also where we see a key difference; the Saatva Classic arrives flat via free white glove delivery with the removal of your existing mattress and foundation if needed. The Brooklyn Bedding ships free in a box.
One area where these brands do align is the return policy. Both Saatva and Brooklyn Bedding charge $99 for returns.
Saatva Classic vs Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress: Materials & Design
- The Saatva Classic is mostly springs with minimal foam
- The Signature Hybrid is a near-even mix of foam and springs
The Saatva Classic and the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid rank among the best hybrid mattresses, meaning you’ll find both springs and foam for the ultimate comfort.
The Saatva Classic is an innerspring hybrid with a dual-coil design and comes in two height options (11.5" or 14.5") and three comfort levels (Plush Soft, Luxury It starts with a 3” Euro pillow top with Lumbar Zone quilting in the center. The cover is made with breathable organic cotton, which is treated with Guardin botanical antimicrobial treatment to stop mold and mildew.
Next is a strip of high-density memory foam in the middle, which works with the specialized quilting to promote proper alignment and back pain relief. Following that are 14.5-gauge recycled steel coils for contouring, pressure relief, and motion isolation — once again, the middle third is reinforced for lumbar support. At the base are 13-gauge tempered steel support coils for support, with a foam encasement wrapped around the perimeter for stable edges.
The Brooklyn Signature Hybrid is 12.25" tall and comes in three firmness levels: soft, medium, and firm. On top is a quilted top, but you can opt for a Cloud Pillow Top wrapped in a GlacioTex fabric for up to $300 more. This upgrade adds bounciness and cooling.
Following that is a layer of supreme response comfort foam and then a Variflex transition foam. These vary in thickness depending on the comfort level you choose. The support core consists of an 8” bed of up to 760 individually wrapped coils. and a 0.25” flex base for stability.
Both the Saatva Classic and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid come in standard bed sizes. The Saatva Classic adds split king and split California king options, while, the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is also available in short full/queen, king, Olympic queen, and RV king.
Saatva Classic vs Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress: Comfort & support
- Both mattresses come in three firmness levels
- The Saatva Classic's dedicated lumbar zone is great for back pain
- The Signature Hybrid has a bouncy yet supportive surface
Both the Saatva Classic and Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid come in three firmness levels, meaning there’s a bed option for just about every type of sleeper. However, their constructions vary so expect a slightly different bed feel for each.
When it comes to Saatva Classic, we recommend the Plush Soft for side sleepers and those who weigh under 130lbs, and the Firm for back and stomach sleepers and those who weigh over 230lbs. The Luxury Firm is a good choice for back, side, and stomach sleepers who fall in between those weight classes.
In our Saatva Classic Mattress review we tested the Luxury Firm option, which provided exceptional pressure relief and helped reduce our lead tester's back pain — a credit to the reinforced center. We consider it one of the best mattresses for back pain. Our wider testing panel felt supported and comfortable, regardless of how they lay.
Unlike most mattresses we've tried, we didn't experience a significant break-in period with the Saatva Classic. It also helps that it arrives flat, so we didn't have to wait for it to take shape — we could sleep on it that night. Just keep in mind that if you're accustomed to a memory foam mattress (or a hybrid with several foam layers), you may need to adjust to the slight bounce of its double-coil construction.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid comes in soft, medium, and firm. Choose soft if you're under 130lbs and/or a side sleeper, medium if you're an average side or back sleeper, and firm if you're a dedicated back/stomach sleeper and/or over 230lbs. The firm option is possibly closest to any variation of te Saatva Classic in feel.
In our Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid review, we tested the firm and medium versions with the Cloud Pillow Top. Our main tester, who slept the firm pillow top version in her home, liked it most for back sleeping. The pillow top makes it more springy than plush, so it wasn't contouring enough for side sleeping.
As for the medium Signature Hybrid our reviewer tried at the 3Z Brands showroom in Arizona, the pressure relief is more pronounced but its bouncy yet supportive feel prevented that sink-in contouring feel. We haven't tried the soft version of the Signature Hybrid, but we don't anticipate that it'll have that body-hugging sensation, either.
Saatva Classic vs Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress:Temperature regulation
- The organic cotton cover and dual coil design help the Saatva sleep cool
- The Signature Hybrid retained heat, even with cooling cover
- Very hot sleepers may want to consider a specialist cooling bed
The Saatva Classic may not be a dedicated cooling mattress but our testers believe it does a fine job of keeping the temperature at a comfortable level. It achieves this by using a soft, organic cotton for the cover — but the dual-coil layers (and relative lack of foam) allows for plenty of room for hot air to move around and dissipate.
Despite our home review unit having a GlacioTex cooling cover, our main tester slept warm on her Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid. That said, some of the best cooling mattresses we've tried have had this specialty cover — so we're inclined to think the other materials that make up this mattress may not disperse heat so well.
