SA child dies from meningococcal infection

SA health authorities say a two-year-old child has died from a meningococcal infection. (AAP)

A two-year-old child from rural South Australia has died after contracting meningococcal disease.

SA Health says 15 people who had contact with the child are being treated with precautionary antibiotics.

The death is the first in SA this year.

There have been seven cases in the state in 2022, compared to six at the same time last year.
