S.T.A.L.K.E.R. may be one of the best-known video game series out there, but have you noticed that they haven't released a new game in 15 years?
Well, the long wait is finally over as the latest installment was released on November 20.
Without further ado, here is what gamers have to say about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
'S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl'
Released on November 20, 2024, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the fourth main game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. video game series. As previously mentioned, it is also the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game released in 15 years.
A survival horror game, it is developed and published by GSC Game World.
For those unfamiliar with the video game series, it is set in a fictional version of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in Ukraine. In the story, a second disaster took place in 2006, and the events of the video game series revolve around it.
Players generally have to battle mutants that are a result of the second disaster. Players are also tasked with exploring the area destroyed by the events that took place.
'Very Positive' Reviews on Steam
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has more than 73,000 reviews on Steam as of press time. These reviews have been categorized as "Very Positive" by Steam.
"Rough around the edges but already receiving regular patches," user LegalizeRanch said in a Steam review. "Best open world exploration I've played in years, it does justice to the original trilogy."
"Absolutely loving it so far, and that's saying something," George said in a separate Stem review. "Even after missing features the older games has, this game is still so good that I'm thinking about it even when I'm at work."
4.1 Stars on Google Reviews
The game, as of writing, enjoys a rating of 4.1 stars on Google Reviews.
Michael Trevor gave it a five-star rating, saying, "Stalker 2 is the most ambitious, intelligent, and bold game this generation has seen (and will see, frankly), and probably the last game to treat the player with respect (and not as an idiot) judging by how everything is shaping up."
Nicholas Giampetro also gave the game five stars, explaining that "This is the best game to come out in a very long time."
"It stayed true to the previous Stalker games that I love and grew up with, while surprising us with new additions," the Google reviewer added.
