S Club 7's publicist storms into interview with Claudia Winkleman in unearthed cringe moment

A toe-curling interview between S Club 7 and Claudia Winkleman, in which the band's publicist charged into a studio, has resurfaced.

The band announced this week they are reuniting for a tour to mark their 25th anniversary, prompting the awkward clip to be shared again.

In 2003, Claudia was chatting to members Jo O'Meara, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearrit and Jon Lee on BBC Three's Liquid News when things got tense.

Speaking to the band, Claudia, referring to a story at the time, said that their manager Simon Fuller "has 90 million in the bank."

“There are rumours that you guys are grumpy because you guys haven’t made mint," Claudia said, asking: "Are you not grumpy about it at all?

Jon replied no while Bradley and Hannah jokingly pretended Claudia was talking about an edible mint.

Jo, the lead vocalist responded diplomatically: "I think we are all really really lucky to be where we are today at our age and have the bank balances that we do have.”

A woman then storms onto set, interrupting the interview.

"Can you not ask this question please, I'm not having it," she told Claudia, adding to the band: “I’ve tried to stop this and I’ve had to walk in here ... we are going.”

Defending herself, Claudia said the story has been in the papers, and a list of questions that were off the table hadn't been provided.

She went on: "You interview all sorts of people and you are sometimes told actually do you know what, don’t ask this... but they seemed fine."

On Monday, the band announced that all seven members are reuniting for an 11 date tour.

In a statement the group, which also included Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens, and Tina Barrett, said: "We're so excited to bring the S Club Party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7.

They added: "Music and friendship have always been at the core of everything that we've ever done. We hope everyone can join us for one big party!"

All members last reunited for an appearance on Children In Need in 2014 and the mega Bring It All Back tour in 2015.

S Club 7 spent five years at the top with four UK Number One singles, one UK Number One album and sold over 10 million albums worldwide, before splitting in 2003.

Band member Hannah hit the headlines last month, after revealing she, her partner and their two daughters were left homeless over Christmas.

Reflecting on her change in fortune from being in one of the country's biggest-selling pop groups, Hannah admitted: "People think we must all be millionaires but sadly it's just not true. It was what it was and we enjoyed ourselves at the time."

It wasn't just Hannah who fell on hard times. Paul has been open about his money troubles, even selling his BRIT award on Ebay.

In a 2018 Loose Women interview he said he didn't even have enough money to pay for a shirt for the appearance.
