Paul Cattermole's last TV appearance just weeks ago saw him alongside his S Club 7 bandmates as they took part in a Eurovision-themed sketch for Comic Relief. And the singer's tragic final Instragam post saw him appear to share his excitement at the group's inclusion in the charity event.
It comes after it was announced on Friday (April 7) that Cattermole had died "unexpectedly". The 46-year-old was found on Thursday, April 6, at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon, a statement released by his family confirmed.
They said in a statement alongside Cattermole's bandmates Rachel Stevens, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara and Jon Lee: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole. Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon."

They confirmed that there were "no suspicious circumstances" surrounding his death. The statement added: "While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."
Rachel, Bradley, Hannah, Jo and Jon also confirmed the news on social media. Sharing a black-and-white picture of their bandmate, Rachel Stevens, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara and Jon Lee said: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel.
"We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."
In his last Instagram post, uploaded on March 16 this year, the day before Red Nose Day, Paul released a sneak peek of a skit that saw him, and the rest of S Club 7, and other celebrities competing for a spot in the Eurovision Song Contest. S Club 7 appeared alongside big names including Graham Norton, Lulu, Sam Ryder, Dermot O'Leary and Miranda Hart.
In the clip, the judges, Graham Norton, Lulu and Sam, explained that they are "on the hunt" for the UK's next Eurovision entry. Lulu joked: "You won't believe who's trying to get in on the action." The camera then cuts to reveal the audition group, including Paul and Strictly Come Dancing 2022 finalist Fleur East.
The comments section of the post has since been flooded with messages from Cattermole's shocked and heartbroken fans and followers. @alimartinn1mua said: "Rest in peace my friend." @alliyah_chantel commented: "Rest in peace Paul I can’t believe it." @hayleyloveschris shared: "RIP beautiful soul. Gone too soon."
@amynataliex wrote: "Big part of my childhood you were in sclub7 … RIP." @anna_scott_82 replied: "R.I.P Paul, sending my condolences to your family and friends." @laurenekp__ posted: "A big part of my childhood. Rest in peace." @joebgyn added: "Love you, always my fave, Paul."
