S Club 7's Hannah Spearritt quits tour as band tearfully break silence after Paul Cattermole's death

Members of S Club 7 have tearfully broken their silence with an emotional update after Paul Cattermole's death.

Jon Lee started off the announcement and apologised to fans for "taking a while" to issue an update since their bandmate died last month. In a clip shared on Instagram, he said: "In all honesty, we have been in a bit of shock. It's taken a while to find the right words to describe how we feel about losing our brother, Paul."

Jon was joined by and bandmates, Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Bradley McIntosh and Jo O'Meara in the emotional update shared with their 68,500 followers. Hannah Spearritt was absent from the announcement and Jon confirmed she has quit their upcoming tour after Paul's death.

He said: "You've probably noticed that there's only five of us. Although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7. She won't be joining us on this tour but we wish her all the best for the future."

S Club 7 announced they were reuniting for a reunion tour earlier this year in celebration of the group's 25 anniversary. Jon was tearful as he explained how the tour will be renamed in honour of Paul's legacy.

He said: "The five of us are really excited to gear up and crack on. It's gonna be our tribute to Paul so we are going to rename the tour The Good Times tour, which is the song that Paul was going to sing."

Jon broke down in tears, which prompted Tina to step in as she added: "We're calling the tour the Good Times tour in tribute to Paul because that was his song and all the fans know that was his song so it just feels right."

Bradley issued an emotional tribute to Paul as he said: "We're all still in so much disbelief. Paul was a big brother to all of us and even you guys out there. He truly was a unique specimen of a human being and no-one can replace our Paul but he lives on inside each and every one of us."

Fans flooded the comments with messages of support after the update.

Andy said: "Love you guys and big hugs to all of u xx"

Beverly commented: "I’ve always loved sclub and seeing you all so upset and broken is horrible. Sclub forever xx"

Tommy added: "This is heartbreaking. Sending you all so much love"
