Rylan's brilliant comeback to homophobic note sent to Owain Wyn Evans

Owain Wyn Evans is not one to shy away from being himself on TV and his fans love him for it, but he's also open about the unpleasant abuse he faces regularly. Now he's shared a brilliant comeback to a hateful note he received - and his BBC pal Rylan Clark has joined in the joke too.

Sharing a scrawled and anonymous, hand-written note in which he's asked why he has to be so camp on TV and told that he 'puts me off my meal', Owain tweeted his bemusement over the mean words but pointed out that the majority of correspondence he receives is lovely.

Posting a picture of himself posing jauntily on his famous drum kit alongside one of the note, Owain wrote: "The vast majority of letters I get from people are so, so lovely. But I still find it bizarre that people take time to scrawl stuff like this onto a notepad and send it to me. Hope this camp pic doesn’t put you off any meals dahlings!"

Fellow BBC DJ and presenter Rylan joked he was the one who wrote the note, replying "I was having a bad morning." The former X Factor contestant and Eurovision host is no stranger to trolls and salty comebacks himself - earlier this year he responded to a mean tweeter who called him a “chav sl*t” by saying; "“Well.., ya dad seemed happy when he left mine last night.”

One fan wrote to Owain: "Sorry you received something so hateful. More camp pics pls and don't ever stop being you!" A second said: "Love you and so does my mum which is a ringing endorsement."

While another also picked up on the poor spelling on the note saying: "Why is it that hateful people can’t spell? Sorry they sent it. They’re just jealous of how fab you are!"

Owain recently revealed that he was moving back to Wales ahead of his new BBC Radio 2 job - presenting the Early Breakfast Show, starting in the new year. Born in Ammanford, the 38-year-old is returning home after living in Manchester where he worked on BBC North West Tonight.
