Rylan Clark has revealed that he was hospitalised after “dangerous” thoughts creeped in following his divorce.
The former X Factor contestant split from his husband Dan Neal last summer after six years together.
Following the breakdown of his marriage, fans were left worried when Clark announced a four-month break from his presenting duties on BBC Radio 2.
Clark has now admitted that he got “quite ill” and even stopped eating following the end of his relationship.
He told The Observer: “I’d got to the point where I didn’t know if I wanted to come back. Or whether I would be able to do this job again.
“It got bad. Like, very bad. And I didn’t think it would be get better. I needed help.”
The TV star said he was “having thoughts” that made him feel “f****d up” and eventually went to hospital for “safety reasons”.
“When I say I disappeared, I literally disappeared,” he said.
“I think they knew how bad I was. There were a select few people that needed to know that I was a danger to myself.”
He added: “I learned I’m worth something. That I should be proud of myself, not embarrassed of Rylan. I should be proud that I can build my mum a house. I should be proud that I can employ my family. I learned that.”
