Rylan Clark panicked when proceedings on Strictly Come Dancing spin-off show It Takes Two were interrupted by an 'important' announcement. The popular TV host was stopped in his tracks as he presented the show's Choreography Corner with Joanne Clifton.
As former Strictly professional Joanne ran through the weekend's dances in finer detail, she turned Rylan to a large TV screen as she demonstrated one of the moves. The screen then went fuzzy as an announcement was made.
"We interrupt our programme to bring this important message," said the announcement. Rylan and Joanne both looked puzzled and turned away from the screen. And then the reason for the interruption came clear as it was declared: "It's Rylan's birthday!"

There was a flurry of excitement in the studio as Rylan was joined by guests Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu and James Bye and Amy Dowden wearing Rylan masks. The bashful birthday boy, who shot to fame 10 years ago on The X Factor, covered his face as a multi-coloured message of 'Birthday Time' flashed up on the screen and the Strictly stars partied around him.
Then he shouted out in excitement as he spotted TV chef and she wheeled in a trolley of cakes. "It's Rustie Lee!" he exclaimed happily and the pair exchanged a warm hug.
Rylan admitted that he had thought something had gone wrong with the broadcast on the BBC 2 show. "I really thought something went wrong and I thought 'how am I going to get out of this now?'" he said.
Rylan started his 34th birthday with a tweet saying simply: "Morning 34."The birthday best wishes have been flooding in and viewers enjoyed his It Takes Two surprise.

Over on Instagram Strictly pro dancer Carlos messaged him to say: "Happy birthday Babe, you looking f*****g gorgeous at 34, I wish my 34 will be like u." Singer Fleur East, who is partnered with Vito Coppola, told him: "Happy birthday!!! have a great one xxx" And Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds, who is competing with Nikita Kuzmin, exclaimed: "Happy birthday!! Xx."
