Rylan Clark revealed he was hospitalised after his divorce from Dan Neal.
The former X Factor star said his marriage split triggered a breakdown which led to him having dark thoughts.
Rylan - real name Ross - bravely shared his struggles as he said that he had to go to hospital "for safety reasons".

Speaking to the Observer, he said: "I didn’t think I’d be here. I didn’t think I could continue."
When asked if he meant continue to work or to live, he said: "Both. I didn’t think I’d actually come back. I was very… gone.
"I was having thoughts and doing things that made me… f***ed up, for want of a better word.
"I didn’t understand why I was doing that to myself. So, I went away for a bit."
He said that he went to hospital "for safety reasons" as he added: "It’s really strange talking about this, because I’ve not even spoken about it to my friends. I just never thought I could get that ill.
"Strange situations do very strange things to people. If it wasn’t for my mum, and my family and close friends I genuinely have no idea if I’d be here."
Rylan explained his time in hospital taught him to say no to people after his Rylan persona started to invade his private life and admits although his marriage breakdown was a trigger, says he needed to find "Ross" again.
He added: "I learned I’m worth something. That I should be proud of myself, not embarrassed of Rylan. I should be proud that I can build my mum a house. I should be proud that I can employ my family. I learned that."
Rylan is doing better more recently, as he is now back to making TV appearances and sharing social media updates after he had a period of silence.
The end of 2021 saw the star celebrate in style for his 33rd birthday, with celeb friends and family in attendance at his party in his lush Essex home.
He also got rid of his veneers which he had had for eight years, and replaced his smile with a more natural look.
