Rylan Clark is known for his slick dark locks and sharp beard but it's not always been that way. Many fans may remember that ten years ago, the then singer and now presenter sported a very different look.
Bursting onto our screens on The X Factor in 2012, Rylan sported long, bleached blonde locks. And as he released his new book to chart the decade that completely changed his life and saw him become a household name, the TV star decided to pay homage to his younger self.
Over the weekend, Rylan, 33, took to Instagram to share images of himself donning blonde extensions, still with his trademark dark beard on show.
"Happy 10 years babe," he typed alongside the image to his millions of followers who were quick to rush to the comments section. He also shared another photo, still with the blonde extensions firmly in place but this time donning a baseball cap backwards. Katie Price was among the first to respond having known Rylan before he shot to fame on the hit singing competition as he once tried out for her modeling show.
"Yeah babe," she wrote alongside crying laughing emojis. Matt Goss, who is currently in the ballroom for Strictly Come Dancing, said: "She’s very cute." Meanwhile, former X Factor winner James Arthur, who won the series while Rylan came in fifth place, told him: "I’m here for it," and his It Takes Two co-host Janette Manrara said he was 'sexy' among a string of crying laughing emojis.
While they were supportive, Rylan's fans were a bit more honest in their opinion on his temporary makeover. @julessc72 said: "As much as I love you please no, just no! Love you Rylan." @helentidmarsh wrote: "Noooo, keep your current look, it's fabulous." @normathestormer commented: "Noooooo…….. like you as you are." @kezzer77 added: "Noooo please don't do it @rylan."
Others got what Rylan was doing and joined him in reminiscing over the BBC Radio 2 host's 10 years in showbiz. @sonyajameson said: "Look how far you’ve come. Ups and downs part of life’s rich tapestry." @saharaharahara wrote: "Genius! What a way to celebrate 10 years." @ natspaniel replied: " Happy 10 years you wonderful fabulous star."
But they also couldn't help but mention Rylan's celebrity lookalike. @shelbels2222 said: "Omg!! Thought it was Sam Ryder." @janenewell15 echoed: "Rylan - you look a bit like Sam Ryder." @sandiesue950 replied: "Sam Ryder's bro! Ya shudda just said." @sjw_uk added: "Thought I was on @samhairwolfryder page!"
