Rylan Clark baffles fans over Eurovision Instagram post

Rylan Clark had fans thinking he was going back to his singing roots as he excitedly marked the first day of the month. The BBC Radio 2 presenter took to Instagram to share a screenshot of an email he had received about the Eurovision Song Contest.

It confirmed that Rylan had received his accreditation to attend the huge European music event which takes place later this month in Turin in northern Italy. Sharing a screenshot of the email, Rylan simply told his millions of followers: "Happy May," and they were quick to flood the post with comments.

@ridley.ruth asked: "Are you singing?!!" as @naomiisabellemia said: "Is this real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure This morning start the campaign."

However, they may have been confused as Rylan isn't actually performing at what is one of the biggest competitions of the year. He will be hosting the BBC's semi-final coverage alongside BBC Radio 1's Scott Mills on May 10 and 12 before the grand final on May 14 which will air on BBC One.

Over on Twitter, Rylan shared a promotional video for the BBC's coverage of Eurovision and said: "We are ready. See you soon @scott_mills." And fans were equally as pleased to find out the Strictly spin-off host will once again be involved.

@anthea_feathersamidthelevels said: "I’m so pleased you are there this year.. the coverage wasn’t the same without you last year."

Meanwhile, @ainsley902 said: "Still have absolutely no idea why you haven’t represented us yet."

The UK this year will be represented by TikTok sensation Sam Ryder. The singer, from Essex, will perform his track Spaceman in the grand final. With over 12 million followers and 100 million likes on the video-sharing platform, Ryder is currently the most followed UK music artist on the platform.

Ryder, 31, found fame covering songs on TikTok during lockdown and has so far accumulated 12 million followers on the video-sharing platform. A year later and Ryder signed to Parlophone and went on to release his debut EP in 2021, which has so far amassed over 100 million global streams.
