Rylan Clark has spoken about the “bad few years” he’s faced since his six-year marriage to Dan Neal came to an end.
The TV presenter said he has struggled with depression following the July 2021 split.
During a recent Comic Relief challenge on a four-day climb up the Cairngorm mountain in Scotland, Clark opened up about his struggles.
“I’ve personally had a bad few years with my mental health, with my physical health,” said the 33-year-old who was joined by presenter Emma Willis and Dancing on Ice’s Oti Mabuse on the Red Nose Day trek.
“I’m looking forward to doing this because I’ve rebuilt my life and rebuilt my body.”
He also shared how happy he was to camp with Willis and Mabuse, saying: “A lot of nights I spend on my own.”
Reflecting on how the marriage break-up had changed him, he explained: “The last few years my whole life completely changed, and the year after it happened I wasn’t in the best place.
“Now I’m back to feeling normal. This year I’ve gone, ‘Say yes to things you’d never say yes to’.”
Clark married 43-year-old Neal in 2015 and announced their separation in July 2021.
Clark previously revealed that had been unfaithful to Neal “years ago” but only told him in May 2021, which led to the marriage breakdown.
He has admitted that he “begged” Neal to return home after their split and said his drinking was “out of control”.
