Ryanair passengers are hailing one pilot's response after a plane was forced to stop at the end of the runway just before takeoff on Monday.
The flight was due to depart when passengers reported an "almighty shuddering" after a bird reportedly hit the plane.
People on the Liverpool to Rome flight were left stunned after the incident, with some saying they saw a bird fly into the aircraft's engine.

They have since hailed the actions of the pilot who handled the situation calmly.
One reported an "almighty shuddering that resembled driving on rumble strips", as the Liverpool Echo reports.
They said the pilot was "forced to put the plane in an emergency stop which was efficiently done".
Staff reportedly thought the plane had a burst tyre, but after an inspection by fire crews a bird was found in the engine.
A passenger, who did not wish to be named, said they were then towed into the main concourse but were "only metres away from the end of the runway."
"The pilot needs praising for quick decision making," they said.
"The passengers were incredibly calm and once we were given the full lowdown were very respectful of the airport staff."
Liverpool John Lennon Airport confirmed there was no emergency landing but said the flight "suffered a suspected bird strike on take off so the flight was postponed". Passengers were postponed to fly later that afternoon.
Ryanair has also been approached by the Liverpool Echo for comment.
