Ryanair issues warning as passengers unable to check-in next week for one night

Ryanair has issued a warning for any passengers planning to fly next week as its app and website will be unavailable for one night.

The airline posted a statement on social media saying that customers who are travelling from the evening of Wednesday, October 19 to the morning of Thursday, October 20 should check-in online before the site undergoes maintenance.

It said: "Due to planned maintenance, Ryanair website/app will be temporarily down from 20.00hrs on Wed, 19 Oct to 05.00hrs on Thurs, 20 Oct."

The statement continued: "Customers who are due to fly during this 9-hour period should check-in online before 18.00hrs on Wed, 19 Oct."

When passengers check-in online, they can get their boarding passes sent straight to their phones and use them to board the flight. There's also the option to print it off - which you'll need to do if you're travelling to Turkey, Morocco, Israel or Lebanon - as those airports do not accept mobile boarding passes.

Kefalonia Airport in Greece is the same, but is the only Greek airport that still requires paper boarding passes.

Ryanair's website states that customers can check-in for flights 60 days in advance of both departure flights by purchasing a seat, or if they have a Flexi Plus ticket.

If you choose not to purchase a seat, you will be able to check-in 48 hours in advance of each departure flight for bookings made prior to January 28, 2021, and 24 hours in advance for bookings made as of January 28, 2021. A seat will then be allocated to you, free of charge.

If you don't check-in online, you'll be faced with a £55 check-in fee for doing it at the airport, or £30 if you're travelling to Spain.
