A flight taking off from Edinburgh airport and flying to Alicante in Spain on the morning of Saturday July 2 has declared a mid-air emergency.
A 7770 squawk code was issued on Ryanair flight FR5580 which signals an emergency onboard the aeroplane.
Concerned social media users raised awareness of the incident on Twitter by using the flight tracker website flightradar24.

The tracker web page showed the Ryanair plane diverting from its set path, the Daily Record reports.
One person said on Twitter : "Ryanair flight FR5580/RYR3EV (737) flying from Edinburgh to Alicante has declared an emergency and appears to be descending to land. #7700".
The flight departed from Edinburgh at around 07:40am UK time and was due to land in Alicante at 11:20am local time.
It is not understood the exact nature of the emergency.
Ryanair has been approached for comment.
