Ryanair flag theory debunked as major feature on planes leaves people with questions

Passengers have been left confused after spotting a major feature on the Ryanair planes which left them believing the Irish flight company made a massive error.

TikTok user @dad_seven recently discovered the "mistake" and shared it on his page.

The travel fan noticed that on the side of the aircraft the Irish flag has apparently been replaced by the Ivory Coast flag.

He said: "Bro even Ryanair confuses the Irish flag with the Ivory Coast flag. That's not the Irish flag Ryanair."

However, the reason for the flag appearing to be the wrong way around is down aviation protocol.

All aircraft show the flag as if the flagpole was nearest the front, with the “wind” blowing it towards the rear - therefore the flag on the right side of the aircraft looks back-to-front.

Many people were left confused and took to the comments to share their opinion. One person commented: "It's correct on the other side I think and flipped on this side."

Another added: "It's not a mistake. On planes the flag is flipped. Can't remember why."

A third wrote: "That is the correct way to paint a flag on an aircraft pole side forward as if flown on a flagpole Aer Lingus do it incorrectly btw."

Another commenter said: "It's to do with how you'd see it from the other side as if it was on a flag pole. All national flags on aircraft are the same."
