Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 issue warning to holidaymakers flying to France

Several airlines have issued a warning for anyone travelling to France as industrial action is set to take place until the end of this week. Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 have told customers that they may experience some disruption to their travels thanks to air traffic strikes in France that began yesterday, lasting until March 10.

This means that passengers either travelling to or through a French airport might face delays, so the airlines have issued some important information that holidaymakers should be aware of.

Liverpool Echo reports that protests were scheduled to take place across France today against the retirement bill, which would raise the official pension age from 62 to 64 and require 43 years of work to earn a full pension, is currently under debate in parliament.

The strikes will end at 5am on Friday, March 10, so here's everything the airlines have said about the situation.

Ryanair

In a statement, Ryanair said: "Due to a French Air Traffic Control Strike, we are expecting possible cancellations or delays on flights to/from France on March 7 and March 8. Any affected passengers will be notified as soon as possible.

"Ryanair advises all passengers to monitor their Ryanair App and the Ryanair website for the latest updates regarding their flight. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this French Air Traffic Control Strike, which is entirely out of Ryanair's control."

easyJet

EasyJet said: "We expect that there will be delays and some disruption due to the industrial action, therefore we advise all customers to check the status of their flight on our flight tracker either on our mobile app or website: www.easyjet.com/en/flight-tracker

"Please also be aware that public transport services may be affected by the strike. We recommend all customers allow plenty of extra time to get to the airport and consider alternative transport options where possible.

"Although this situation is outside of our control, we would like to apologise to any affected passengers for the inconvenience caused. We will contact affected customers directly via Email and SMS using the details provided at the time of booking and check in.

"For cancelled flights only, we advise customers not to travel to the airport but to transfer their flights free of charge or take a refund by logging onto Manage Bookings on easyJet.com or using our Flight Tracker: easyjet.com/XXXX(yourflightnumber)."

Jet2

In a statement, Jet2 said: "Flights operating to or through French airspace may be delayed. If you're affected, rest assured we'll try to keep any disruption to a minimum.

"Please arrive at the airport at least two hours before your departure time. Check-in closes 40 minutes before a flight's scheduled departure time. If you are on a Jet2holiday, your transfer remains unaffected and will collect you at your scheduled collection time.

"For up-to-date information, please check this web page again, as well as the departure screens and listen out for any announcements. We'll have you on your way as soon as we can."
