Ryan Yates makes Nottingham Forest revelations after Derby County win

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates has revealed his career highlights and named the one thing he would change about his career.

Appearing on the latest episode of Sky Sports' EFL podcast, Yates answered a series of quickfire questions after Forest's 2-1 victory over Derby County at the weekend.

The 24-year-old, who has been at the club since the age of seven, has two moments he looks back on fondly in his young career to date.

When asked for his career highlight, he said: “Apart from making my debut in the Carabao Cup for Forest, I’d probably say our first derby game when we won 1-0 under the lights.

“Scored after about one minute and that will always stick in the memory I think.”

The midfielder also revealed the one moment he would change in his career so far.

"My first red card for Forest," he said.

"I lunged into a tackle, so naïve, desperate to impress and just overstepped the mark. But I'm a better player for it now."

What about the best player he has played with? "In terms of experience, I'd probably say Lewis Grabban," said Yates. "He's someone I look up to and a top professional at the club."

Yates also picked out a bond shared between the players and fans as something that makes Forest a special club.

"I think it's the song (Mull of Kintyre) before the game. Even today (against Derby), we're in the huddle before the game and you can barely speak.

"It's that connection, especially now, between the players, supporters and management staff. It's all going really well."
