Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates said that he will be back to full fitness ‘soon’ after missing a number of games for medical reasons.
The 25-year-old was absent from the Forest squad for six games in all competitions through illness. He is now slowly building up his return to first team action. The midfielder made his first start in almost two months in the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle before the international break.
He played 58 minutes of the game after returning as a second half substitute against Everton and Tottenham. He has also featured for the U21s earlier this month as he aimed to return to action and build up his fitness.

Speaking on the club’s On and off the pitch podcast , Yates has now given an insight into his absence and his return to full fitness. “I was just feeling a little bit lightheaded in games, so the doctor and medical staff basically said you have to not play for a bit,” he said.
“Now slowly, I’m just building back up my fitness and hopefully in the next week or two I’m going to be fully fit and raring to go.
“It’s one of them things, I just listened to what the medical staff were saying, and luckily they’ve given me the all clear just to crack on and continue to try and get back to the form I had previously where I feel like I was really growing into the team."
“It’s happening soon,” he added when queried about getting back to full fitness and playing 90 minutes.
There was an injury concern over Yates following the game vs Newcastle with the midfielder requiring treatment for what looked like a shoulder injury during the game. Steve Cooper was unable to give any update after the game, but there was no mention of any problems in the player’s update on his fitness.
