Ryan Tubridy has apologised unreservedly to his RTE colleagues after news of his overpayments broke.
The broadcaster faced scrutiny after an audit revealed he was paid an additional €345,000 between 2017 and 2022. RTE's Director General Dee Forbes has been suspended following the revelation.
Ryan did not host his usual radio slot on RTE One this morning. The presenter has now issued a second statement, where he admitted to "errors in judgement."
He wrote: "While I have no responsibility for the corporate governance in RTE or how or what they publish in their accounts, when my earnings were published I should have asked questions at the time and sought answers as to the circumstances which resulted in incorrect figures being published."

The 50-year-old added: "I didn’t, and I bear responsibility for my failure to do so. For this, I apologise unreservedly."
RTE bosses have decided to keep Ryan off air for an additional week. The former Late Late Show host expressed disappointment at the decision but said he looked forward to his return to radio.
