Ryan Tubridy says big changes are coming to the Late Late Show when it returns in autumn to give the series a reboot.
But first the top RTE star admitted he is enjoying the ‘breather’ from the Friday night chat show while it is on a break for the summer.
“I love it,” he told the Irish Daily Mirror before adding, “I'm glad that it is gone away for a little while.
“I think we all need a breather. I’m still on the radio which I love, so the TV will wait.”
The series wrapped up in May for the season with a special show to celebrate 60 years on air.
Heading into his 14th year at the helm, Tubridy teased that it will come back with a bang in autumn with some changes to the usual format.
The 49-year-old explained: “It will start cranking up in August. I’m ready, the show might have a little reboot in the Autumn, there may be some changes at foot, it’s all in play.
“I don't think they will be fundamental changes, but a little bit of change of style and flavour.
“And we are already starting to talk about the Toy Show,” he added.
Tubridy, who also hosts his RTE Radio One morning show daily, confirmed he'll be taking a break from the airwaves for a few weeks to unwind before the busy telly season resumes.
“I have a few more weeks coming up at the end of July to explore the world. I made a promise to myself after the pandemic finished, I said I am going to fly.
“And I am flying. And I am enjoying it. I thought it was very heavy going like everybody else, and I want to see the world and I want to run,” he said.
And taking to social media on Tuesday he confirmed he will be going off the grid, whilst also taking a swipe at the Tory leadership race.
Posting a picture of himself outside 10 Downing Street, he joked: "As of this morning, I’m retiring from my current job so I can enter the race for Number 10…
"Not really but I’m off grid for a few weeks so have a great few weeks and I’ll see you in the other side!"
