Ryan Tubridy reveals sadness over 'nasty schoolboys' who filmed themselves saying something ‘really derogatory' towards him

Ryan Tubridy revealed he was targeted by a group of 'nasty schoolboys' who filmed themselves saying something ‘really derogatory' towards him.

The Late Late Show host, who is busy preparing for the Toy Show this Friday said it was ‘a pity’ as he gears up for his biggest night of his work year celebrating the young people of this week.

Discussing the issue of people with ‘bad manners’, he said: “A couple of pretty nasty schoolboys passed me by the other day with their phones and said something really derogatory. And they were filming it. And I thought ‘that's a pity because youngsters I'm a big fan and supporter of.

“And I'm not sure why they did it but I presume it's part of their TikTok feed or something like that.

“And I'm just sharing that with you [the listener] because you're sharing stuff with me. You just have to keep an eye on it,” he went on.

The father-of-two, who is often referred to as the ‘Toy Man’ after 14 years at the helm of the Toy Show, went on to express his love of the younger generation, but also urged them to ‘go easy’.

Speaking to his RTE Radio 1 listeners on Tuesday morning, he said: “Whatever about our generation, we either have it or we don't. We're either a lost cause or we're going to be okay. But the next generation just needs to go easy on recording everything and don't be mean.

“They're terrific, I love them, but once or twice a bad apple falls from the tree.”

It comes as the host, 49, teased this year’s Late Late Toy Show to be ‘the best he has ever seen’ as rehearsals take place behind the scenes.

He said: “We had a little rehearsal for the Toy Show, and I would argue that it's among the best I've ever seen.”
