Ryan Tubridy opens up on infamous moment Shane Lynch had outburst on Late Late Show

Ryan Tubridy has opened up about the infamous moment Boyzone star Shane Lynch hit out at the Late Late Show host for playing the iconic clip of the boyband's first RTÉ performance.

Lynch was appearing on the chat show back in 2018 alongside his fellow Boyzone members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham.

While the singer missed out on a chance to perform with the lads due to getting delayed in traffic, he was able to join them for a chat with Ryan afterwards about their reunion.

However, things took a turn for the worst when Ryan pulled up the legendary clip of the boy band’s first-ever TV performance in 1993, where no singing takes place and the group dances to Club House, Light My Fire.

Shane did not appear to appreciate the clip being shown, telling the host: “I busted my boll***s to get here and you see that clip, you can shove it up your f***ing hole.

He added: “No. I don't give a f***” and gave the middle finger.

Following Shane’s announcement that he would be stepping away from show business, Ryan opened up about the incident.

While on his radio show, Ryan said: “He's had enough. The time he came on the Late Late Show in 2018, he had enough that night.

“I remember because three or four of the lads sang. Shane was late because he was held up.

“We sat down and chatted. I was asking him about the clip when Boyzone were dancing around.”

The Late Late Show host added that he did not know Shane was not a fan of the clip.

“What I didn't realise was Shane didn't like the clip and I didn't realise he didn't want the clip being played,” Ryan explained.

“I suppose we didn't have much of a chance to talk to him because he was otherwise engaged.”

Despite this, everything ended up okay and no hard feelings remained between the pair.

“I will say lovely fella and I still stand by that, he was always a nice guy to me. On this occasion, not mad about the clip,” he said.

Replaying the infamous moment on his radio show, Ryan stated they weren’t able to play the uncensored version of the moment.

He shared: “'It's a pity you have to bleep out the explicit because it packs a much bigger punch. It became a tote bag like all the great quotes.

“I hope he finds peace and tranquillity now the bright lights of showbiz move on from him.”
