Ryan Tubridy feels 'good to go' as he returns to RTE Radio 1 show after summer break

Ryan Tubridy has lifted the lid on his summer break after taking a month off from his RTÉ Radio 1 morning show, RSVP reports.

The Late Late Show presenter was replaced by broadcaster and fashion designer Brendan Courtney and comedian Oliver Callan during his stint away from the airwaves.

He said he feels "restored, recharged and good to go", but he joked that all he did was sweat and lose more of his eyesight over the last four weeks.

Ryan said: "I am back in the chair. I am restored, recharged and good to go. I had a lovely break, so thank you to Brendan [Courtney] and Oliver [Callan] for looking after the store."

Asked what he was up to, the father of two said: "I got around and hung out with my girls. I had a lot of fun some beers, met some pals and caught up on things."

Ryan admitted that his eye sight isn't what it used to be these days and his house is now full of glasses as he struggles to see and read.

If anyone is looking to find him, all they have to do is follow the trail of glasses around the place, similar to the tale of Hansel and Gretel and how they followed breadcrumbs.

"I have done many things since I last saw you," he told his listeners this morning.

"As well as sweating out my body weight because of the humidity, I have gotten a little more blind. I have had to soup up the glasses.

"You will know where I am because of all the glasses I have strewn all around my house. If I don't have glasses now, I just rail against the small print 'Why are they printing things smaller?' They are not, you just have to roll with this."

Ryan also revealed that The Late Late Show will be returning to screens in just two weeks time.

The chat show will air for its 61st year from Friday September, 2.
