He told listeners: “Joe Biden was over many years ago for a talk with the American Ireland Fund and I had the pleasure of being at the dinner.
“I [took] one of my sisters with me. We had a lovely evening. Joe Biden was vice-president at the time.
“One of his minders said, ‘Hey, we saw you at Dublin Castle earlier, but you didn’t get a photo’. I had an introduction that day.
“I stepped into a marquee with lots of security and Joe Biden had just finished a speech and then, sure enough, in he comes.
“When Joe Biden steps into a room, you know about it, let me tell you. It starts with the teeth and his big white grin and smile.
“Very pleasant. I shook his hand and I’m sure I said something unintelligible.
“We had a photo taken, but I never saw it again until [Thursday] when the embassy got in touch to say they have the photo.
“I was so happy because it’s a really lovely picture, so I posted that up on Instagram at the crack of dawn this morning.
“The president looks happy and it all comes on foot of the news that it looks kike he’s going to make a trip to Ireland.”
Ryan previously revealed that US president Biden wrote a letter to him following their meeting in Dublin seven years ago.
Tubs said: “The letter says, ‘Ryan, Ryan, Ryan, thank you, thank you, thank you.
‘A hundred thousand thank yous. Your introduction was overly generous but greatly appreciated.
‘Being able to address all those Irish people was a great honour. I believe what I said, our shared values are exactly what the world needs.
‘Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing you again’.”
Ryan added: “I’d say I met Joe Biden for about 38 seconds. That is a handwritten letter. I just think you are dealing with a class act.”
