Ryan Tubridy and agent Noel Kelly offer to help Oireachtas Media Committee

Ryan Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly have offered to help the Oireachtas Media Committee with their inquiries into RTE's non-disclosure of payments.

The broadcaster was rocked by controversy again last night after it emerged that there are more so-called "barter accounts", similar to the one already at the centre of the Tubridy payments controversy,

RTE News reports that both Mr Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly have now offered to help the Oireachtas Media Committee next week, but it is unclear in what format they will do so. The offer was made in a letter to the committee this week, RTE said.

The letter was sent by Hayes Solicitors on behalf of its clients Ryan Tubridy and Noel Kelly to the chair of the media committee Niamh Smyth. It said that the pair "wish to fully cooperate and assist with your Committee's investigations".

It added that Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly "believe that they have important information that will assist the committee in its examination of these issues and clarify a number of matters that have arisen".

"Both Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly kindly request to meet with your committee at a suitable time next week," the letter continues.

"They would welcome this opportunity to set out their position on these matters and then submit themselves to appropriate questioning from the members of the committee on what are clearly matters of public interest."

Representatives from RTE will face the Oireachtas Media Committee again on this afternoon where they are expected to be grilled over last night's revelations of the use of multiple barter accounts.
