Ryan Reynolds has recalled the moment his and Blake Lively’s daughters first learned their "aunt" Taylor Swift was a multi-award-winning artist.
The Deadpool actor explained that his girls - James, seven, Inez, six, and three-year-old Betty - sweetly thought Swift’s music was just a “hobby”. Reynolds, 46, said they also didn’t fully comprehend her global superstar status until they went to one of her concerts.
Speaking on Monday’s episode of Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Reynolds said: “I think what’s most exciting for them is that for the longest time they just thought Taylor’s just like an aunt, like a friend of Mommy and Daddy that’s very, very close, almost family.
“And then they went to a concert one day and were like, ‘Ohhhhh, this isn’t a hobby’”.
The Wrexham FC co-owner and Lively are so close to Swift that she revealed the name of their third child in her track Betty. Swift also incorporated all three of the kids' monikers by naming the song's characters after them.
The Spirited star also revealed that his daughters had planned a ‘Midnights dance party’ following his interview to celebrate Swift’s new album, Midnights. He joked that his youngest child, Betty, hilariously belts out the expletive-filled lyrics.
He added: “We’re headed straight to the porch where we’re doing a full dance number set to Midnights, swear words included.
“My favourite thing is when a three-year-old is just throwing down the F-bomb in a song and has no idea.”
In September, Lively revealed that she was expecting her fourth child during an appearance at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit.
In a cryptic comment, the 35-year-old actress told media at the event: “I just like to create. Whether that’s baking or storytelling or businesses or humans, I just really like creating.”
Two months on, Reynolds admitted in an interview with Today on Monday he was hoping their new addition would be another girl. However, he added that he and Lively “don’t know” the sex of their impending arrival.
“I know girls, so I’m kind of hoping that,” he said. Reynolds, who married Lively in 2012, added that they “never find out ‘til they’re born”.
