Ryan Reynolds makes 'best in Europe' claim about Ellesmere Port restaurant

Ryan Reynolds has claimed an Ellesmere Port restaurant serves the "best Indian food in Europe".

The Deadpool actor is in the UK to show his support for National League side, Wrexham A.F.C. Ryan co-owns the Welsh club with 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' star Rob McElhenney, after the pair made a £2m investment in November 2020.

The 45-year-old was in attendance at the Racecourse Ground as his side beat Maidstone United by five goals to nil yesterday afternoon. And after the match, Ryan took to Instagram to recommend Ellesmere Port restaurant, Light of India, to his 44.8m followers.

Posting on his story, the actor shared a flyer for the Whitby Road restaurant with the caption: "Best Indian food in Europe." The Light of India was established in 1980 as one of the area's first Indian restaurants and has a four star-rating on TripAdvisor.

Ryan has made several trips to the UK since taking over Wrexham nearly two years ago, but the 'Free Guy' star recently revealed his wife, Blake Lively, wasn't too impressed when she first heard about Ryan's business venture.

Speaking in a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ryan said: "I remember seeing Blake and saying, 'I have bad news and I have really bad news. The bad news is I slipped into someone's DMs again.

"The really bad news is that I might have bought half of a fifth-tier national football league in Wales." In a separate interview, Ryan confirmed the Gossip Girl actress has since had had a change of heart and is now "obsessed" with the Welsh club.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ryan said: "We were laying in bed after the Wembley match and she's like, 'I'm now as obsessed if not more than you are with this club and this community and this town and everything it represents and where it can go."
