Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has subtly addressed Blake Lively‘s explosive legal battle with Justin Baldoni via a joke during Saturday Night Live‘s 50th Anniversary Special.
On Monday (Australian time), America’s biggest stars came together to celebrate the 50th season of SNL, a comedy sketch series known for catapulting some of your fave comics (like Tina Fey and Amy Pohler) to stardom, iconic celebrity guests and performances.
Amongst the many celebs who showed face were Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, who are in the midst of a messy, highly-publicised legal battle with Justin Baldoni over allegations surrounding It Ends With Us.
During Pohler and Fey’s SNL 50: The Anniversary Special monologue, the Inside Out star asked Reynolds, “How’s it going?”.

“Great! Why, what have you heard?” Reynolds nervously responded, which was then followed by a burst of laughter from the audience as Fey and Pohler waved their hands, not wanting to dive deep into that sticky situation.

What cracks me up about the subtle joke was definitely Lively’s reaction, where she went from a smile to almost a look of concern.

The SNL 50th special is the first time Reynolds and Lively have been at a red carpet event together, with their last appearance being the It Ends With Us New York City premiere in August 2024.
A couple of months following the movie’s debut, Lively issued a legal complaint against Bladoni and the company behind the film which detailed accusations of sexual harassment, retaliation and alleged smear campaign against her.

Following Lively’s explosive legal move Baldoni denied the actor’s claims and filed a $250 million lawsuit against the New York Times for their reporting of the complaint.
The It Ends With Us director also filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, alleging defamation and extortion.
In the most recent update regarding their fiery legal feud, Lively subpoenaed Baldoni’s text message in hopes of gathering evidence surrounding the alleged director’s smear campaign against her.
“Ms. Lively has initiated discovery that will expose the people, tactics, and methods that have worked to ‘destroy’ and ‘bury’ her reputation and family over the past year,” her attorneys, Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, told Page Six.
“We will now receive all of the ‘receipts’ that, unsurprisingly, are nowhere to be found on Mr. Freedman’s website, and like Ms. Lively, those ‘receipts’ will have their day in court.”
A date for their mammoth Hollywood trial has been set for March 9, 2026.
