Ryan Reynolds' biggest signing for Wrexham gets custom-made 'F*** the Tories' boots

Wrexham 's biggest signing of the Hollywood era, Paul Mullin, has got himself some new custom-made football boots with the words 'F*** the Tories' printed on the side and a tribute to Liverpool.

Mullin is proud to be from Merseyside, and has paid tribute to this by securing himself some new boots that feature the Liverpool skyline, but they also contain a very obvious message. On one of the boots the phrase "f*** the Tories" is displayed, with the Conservative Party famously not being overly popular with some locals.

Mullin signed for Wrexham in July 2021 after rejecting a new deal at League Two side Cambridge United, with the striker eager to return closer to home for family reasons. He's been in red hot form for Wrexham since making the move, and now has some new gear to score goals with.

Wrexham is only a 55 minute drive from Liverpool, which may explain why Mullin was eager to take on a new challenge with the side owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. But even with a new venture in Wales, Mullin will now have a piece of Liverpool with him every time he laces his boots.

It's not the first instance we have seen a sporting star from the Merseyside area support the "f*** the Tories" approach, as Molly McCann started a chant at the 02 Arena after winning her fight at UFC London. Politics has been one of the major talking points in the UK over the last few months, with Liz Truss initially taking over as PM.

But her stint in charge became the shortest term in history, and now Rishi Sunak has become the new Conservative leader, and PM. Opposition parties have called for another general election, but for now the country will be lead by Sunak.

It's not known how Wrexham will view this stance from Mullin, but for now Reynolds and McElhenney will be grateful for the goalscoring form their striker is in. Mullin has 11 goals in 13 National League outings, and is driving them towards the football league.

Reynolds and McElhenney are said to be adoring fans of Mullin's, which is appreciated by the striker. But there were some concerns raised by others when Mullin penned a three-year deal at the National League side.

"When I signed there were eyebrows raised - but not from me and my family. We knew what we were getting into," Mullin said.

"My family wants me to be happy and excited and I couldn't be more happy being here. I'm really enjoying my football and I'm pretty sure that's showing on the pitch the way I am always trying to smile, things like that."

Mullin even has his own chant, and the striker loves hearing his name being sung, as do his family who regularly watch him in action now he's closer to home. "I'm enjoying it. I've loved it and they love coming to the games," he said.

"I think they sort of feel a bit special sometimes when the fans are singing my name. My mum and dad always tear up and my missus comes home singing it winding me up because she knows I hate to hear it in the house! We love it."
