Barnet goalkeeper Laurie Walker tweeted Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds asking the Hollywood star to rate his "acting skills" following a turbulent clash between the two sides on Saturday.
And the actor was rapid to respond in quick-witted fashion.
Walker was involved in an incident which saw Reds player Callum McFadzean sent off at the Hive, with referee Ed Walker adjuding the away man had left his boot in on the home side's keeper.
It meant Wrexham played the majority of the second half with 10 men, and Walker's role in McFadzean seeing red riled manager Phil Parkinson, who remonstrated with the keeper at the full-time whistle - ultimately being shown a red card himself for his actions.
Parkinson accused Walker of "cheating", according to the stopper in his interview with BT Sport.
"He was basically trying to say I was cheating," Walker said, who blew kisses to the away fans at the end of the match. "But I'm sure, as you guys can see at home, he has come through and kicked me straight in the face. That's all I'm going to say on it."
But that wasn't all he was going to say on the matter.
Walker took to social media post-match to send a message to Reynolds on Twitter. In a now-deleted tweet, Walker wrote: "@vancityreynolds How’s my acting skills mate, think I could play a part in your next film. I think your gaffer thinks I could."
Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney responded tonight. On Instagram Reynolds screengrabbed the deleted tweet, writing: "I'd offer to get you a SAG card but the risk of paper cut is too high."
A SAG card is a standard wallet-sized card that provides proof of membership into the labour union that represents over 160,000 actors and other media personalities in America. Previously known as just the Screen Actor's Guild, hence the SAG acronym, it's now known as the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists after a merger in 2012.
McElhenney. meanwhile, quoted tweeted with the caption: "I thought ‘own goals’ could only happen during the actual game."
The game, which finished 0-0, moved Wrexham one point closer to promotion back to the Football League, although Notts County's win on Saturday keeps the race on.
Parkinson will now serve a one-match ban, against Yeovil on Tuesday night.
"That's a soft red card," Parkinson said after the match. "I can't see that. It's his trailing leg, there is no real intent there. For me, he has got it wrong and the keeper made a meal of it and that influences the referee's decision. When you go down to 10 men, a point is good. I always felt there might be a moment for us, but it didn't come. The lads have dug deep and put in a strong performance against a good side."
