Ryan Porteous responds to Hibs exit poser as defender reveals how he copes with transfer talk

Ryan Porteous says if Sunday's derby with Hearts was his last game for Hibs, winning it would be special.

But the Hibees defender, who looks set to leave Leith this month after he rejected a new deal at Easter Road, revealed that he has shut himself off from social media amid swirling transfer links. It appears English Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers are leading the way for the 23-year-old's signature but face competition from other clubs as Porteous weighs up his future.

Yet the Scotland cap insists his sole focus is on a massive Scottish Cup Edinburgh derby against a rampant Hearts side, but lifted the lid on his state of mind during the January window talk.

He told Sky Sports: "I model myself on coming in every day to be a top professional. I've found it pretty easy to concentrate on my football and let it do the talking. It's one of the biggest games of the season tomorrow and that's where my head is at.

"These are big games for the club, I'm contracted to the club and I feel I'm an important player for the team. I'm here, ready if selected and I'll give everything. No matter when your last game is you want to win it. If it was Hearts it would be a little more special but we want to go through no matter who we are playing.

"The people I have around me are good and know how to manage me well. I switch myself off from social media and I don't read it which has helped me massively. The conversations I need to know are done early in the week. Other than that its just concentration on football."
