Ryan Mmaee wanted by Celtic as Ferencvaros goal machine targeted for Champions League assault

Premiership champions Celtic are on the chase of red-hot Ferencvaros striker Ryan Mmaee.

Record Sport understands the Moroccan international has emerged on their radar in recent months – with extensive data analysis undertaken.

The 24-year-old grabbed 19 goals for the Hungarian champions amid a host of eye-catching displays en route to title glory.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is keen to add more firepower ahead of their return to the Champions League following a five-year absence.

Mmaee has impressed this season and his versatility will appeal with experience of playing from the left side.

Ferencvaros signed him last summer after his free-scoring exploits at Limassol and he proved a key arrival.

The Morocco international made his name at Standard Liege and has also had loan spells at AGF and Waasland-Beveren.

Meanwhile. Celtic are closing in on a permanent deal to sign Jota from Benfica and also hope to close a similar deal for Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham.

Celtic have also been linked with Manchester City defenders Ko Itakura and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

The Parkhead side have appointed Mark Lawwell as their head of recruitment and he is set to leave the City Group to start his new job in July.

Record Sport revealed the Hoops interest in Japanese star Itakura last summer but they lost out to Schalke.

The Germans are toiling to pay the agreed £6million release fee.

If Celtic were to renew their interest then it would need City to agree to another loan or to take a major hit on the current terms agreed with Schalke.

Celtic may have added financial muscle if they can move on Christopher Jullien, who is keen to leave Scotland because of his lack of first-team football following his return from injury.

Defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis was on-loan at Stoke City last season and has previous spells at Blackburn Rovers and Anderlecht.

He plans to return to City this summer and there have been no discussions over his future plans with the newly-crowned English champions, whether he will be part of their first-team, loaned out or sold.
