Ryan Kent has been told he was gambling when getting into an altercation with Aberdeen's Liam Scales during Rangers' Viaplay Cup semi-final success.
Michael Beale's side responded to a Bojan Miovski opener for the Dons with Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe goals to book a final with holders Celtic on February 26th. The game turned on Anthony Stewart recklessly tackling Fashion Sakala and it earned the Aberdeen skipper a red card, although whether Rangers' winger should have followed him down the tunnel has been debated.
Replayed showed Kent's arm around Scales' face but speaking on Superscoreboard, former Ibrox goalkeeper Cammy Bell reckons it was a yellow card offence, with referee Nick Walsh not spotting it at the time. But it was a punt that the number 14 was taking despite the fact no Rocky-like punches were thrown: "I think what's happened is Kent is chasing down the ball and he is trying to get past Liam Scales.
"He's kind of, I would say, frustrated and brushed past him and kind of swung his arm. I think he is (taking a chance) as he's caught him in the face and yo are always taking a chance if you're putting your hands out to someone's face."
"Is it a punch? No it's not a punch, it is him trying to get past the player and for me a yellow card is as far as you go with that one."
Bell was in no mood for cutting slack for Aberdeen's Stewart, who he believes could have his captaincy duties in question. The former stopper added: "I watched him at St Mirren, I think just before or after Christmas.
"He got sent off in another horrendous error, gave the ball away and pulled the guy back. That is your captain and leader, and he does that in a semi-final? There has got to be question marks over his position as captain if he is going to lead the team like that."
