Ryan Kent Rangers contract endgame rapidly approaches as on hold Michael Beale talks rise up Ibrox agenda

Rangers could be handed a contract decision from Ryan Kent in the coming days - with Michael Beale stating crucial talks will take place with the Scottish Premiership on hold.

The winger is out of contract in the summer and could leave Ibrox on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, with reports south of the border claiming the 26-year-old is attracting interest from Burnley and Leeds United with time ticking down on his deal in Scotland. Kent has recaptured his best form in a Rangers jersey under Michael Beale, and could be convinced to remain in Govan by a boss he has known since coming through the academy at Liverpool.

After almost five years at the club, Kent's final decision over an exit looks to be rapidly approaching after Beale previously stated talks were on hold until the international break. Scotland take centre stage for the remainder of March with Steve Clarke's men facing Cyprus and Spain at Hampden.

Rangers won't resume league duties until they face Dundee United on April 1 - giving Beale plenty of time to make the big calls on who he hands out deals for next season. Earlier this month, Beale stated talks with Kent would remain on the back-burner during a packed fixtures list.

He said: “We’ve had discussions around it and we’ve both parked everything until we’ve found a moment. The next moment will be in the next international break when we’ll sit and have another chat.

"We’re both cool, we’re both on the same page and I think it’s right after the amount of years he’s been here and the changes with his third manager here as well that he takes time to consider his options. It’s the same that we do as well. We’ve not put anything in front of him, we’ve just had conversations. At this moment in time that’s the best place to be."
