Ryan Kent post-Fenerbahce transfer latest as Rangers return floated

Former Rangers winger Ryan Kent could choose to stay abroad in the search for his next club, according to a report.

The ex-Ibrox forward, 27,  is on the lookout for a new club after his Fenerbahce contract was terminated last week.

Rangers were quickly linked as possible suitors for Kent with a return to Glasgow floated, however, Philippe Clement refused to be drawn on a free transfer move.

Now, reports have claimed Kent may remain abroad in the search for a new club with interest from a host of countries in Europe and further afield.

The Daily Mail report Kent may ignore a return to the UK despite links with Rangers, Leeds United and Ipswich Town and instead "choose to stay abroad".

Ajax were previously tipped as interested suitors with Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq also credited with transfer interest in the English winger.

Fenerbahce reportedly agreed to terminate Kent's contract 16 months into his four-year deal with the possibility Kent would have raised his issues with the club to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"I said already in that one year, already a lot of times I don't go into rumours," said Clement when quizzed on speculation over a move for Kent. "Because then it never stops, and it's already busy with all the press conferences with you guys.  So, no, I'm not going to go into rumours."

Clement did, however, reveal he tried to sign Kent for Club Brugge before he made the move to Rangers.

"Of course, I know the player, and I've known him a long time, because the moment he went to Rangers, I was in talks with him to get him to Brugge.

"But there was a better deal, I think, in Rangers, in that way, so he chose for that. So, I've known him a long time, but I'm not going into rumours about bringing players on."

Confirming Kent's exit, a Fenerbahce statement read: "The contract of Ryan Kent, one of the players of the Professional Football A Team, has been mutually terminated."
