Ryan Kent opens up on Fenerbahce struggle despite scoring on debut

Ryan Kent admitted he struggled to play in 35 degrees heat despite making a sensational start to his Fenerbahce career by scoring on his debut.

The former Rangers winger introduced himself perfectly to the home crowd when he netted after just 14 minutes as the Istanbul side swept away Moldovan minnows Zimbru Chisinau in an eye-catching 5-0 romp in the Europa Conference League.

It was the ideal introduction for Kent, although he reckoned it was difficult to play in such extreme temperatures, even though the kick off was 9pm local time.

He said: "It was very difficult to play under these conditions, but they were the same for both teams.

"The important thing is to dominate possession on the pitch because then you make the opposition run and chase the ball and that's very hard.

"So we tried to make the game as easy as possible for ourselves and we succeeded

"It was a positive performance for us and we started the game very quickly. Perhaps we had a rest after we scored the second goal, but we were still dominant.

"We managed to show our style of play even in this heat and remember we are still developing as a team.

"The atmosphere was incredible and I hope to experience it more often."

Kent's debut goal was all the more remarkable since he only managed to score two goals for Rangers since the start of last October.
