Ryan Kent in Rangers transfer 'upset' as Leeds links may have impacted star claims Ibrox hero

Rangers hero Alan Hutton says talk of Leeds United may have 'upset' Ryan Kent - but full focus has to be on performing for the Light Blues.

The winger is in the final 12 months of his contract at Ibrox after initially arriving on a permanent basis from Liverpool in 2019 for a reported £6.5 million fee, following a successful loan. He's had mixed reviews this season with no goals coming in any of his 10 appearances so far after Leeds United were once again linked with taking him from the Premiership to the Premier League.

Hutton says he's not one Rangers will want to lose, especially on a free, but speculation may have impacted his early season form. He told Football Insider: "I’d love to see him sign a new deal. There’s definitely improvement there within his game, we can all see that, he’s obviously working hard. Again he’s a player that makes Rangers better when he’s on top form.

"So you don’t want to lose him either. He’s one where I think there was a lot of speculation with the likes of Leeds, possible move back to the Premier League.

"That can upset players, it can make it difficult for them but ultimately they have to be playing in the Rangers team and playing well either for a contract or if you do want that move.

“To lose him in January is only going to hurt Rangers in the long run. Ultimately they’re going for the league title and you can’t be losing your best players."
