Ryan Gosling To Perform 'I'm Just Ken' At Oscars

Don Murray received an Oscar nomination for his performance in 'Bus Stop'

Ryan Gosling is set to perform the Academy Award-nominated song “I’m Just Ken” from the movie Barbie at the upcoming award show on March 10, as reported by Variety. The song, which has been nominated for Best Original Song, has garnered significant attention and acclaim.

In a recent interview with Variety, Gosling expressed his initial uncertainty about being asked to perform at the prestigious event, stating, “It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it.” Despite his reservations, Gosling seems eager to take on the challenge.

The genesis of “I’m Just Ken” can be traced back to a suggestion from musician Mark Ronson to Barbie director Greta Gerwig. Both Gerwig and Gosling were immediately drawn to the idea, prompting Gosling to inquire about performing the song in the film. Gerwig subsequently reworked a scene to incorporate the song, leading to its inclusion in the movie.

The success of “I’m Just Ken” has been notable, with the song charting on Billboard’s Hot 100 list at No. 87 in August. Additionally, it clinched the title of Best Song at the Critics’ Choice Awards and received a nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammys, further solidifying its impact and recognition within the industry.

Alongside “I’m Just Ken,” another track from Barbie titled “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas has also been nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars, highlighting the musical prowess and diversity of the film’s soundtrack.

As the anticipation builds for the Academy Awards ceremony, Gosling’s performance of “I’m Just Ken” is poised to be a standout moment, showcasing the talent and creativity that have propelled the song to critical acclaim and widespread popularity.
