Ryan Gosling reveals Margot Robbie's bizarre on-set rule while filming Barbie

Ryan Gosling reveals Margot Robbie had a bizarre mandatory rule while filming Greta Gerwig's 2023 Barbie movie.

Ryan, who plays the male lead of Ken, explained his co-star created a strict pink rule for everyone on set.

"Margot had this pink day once a week, where everyone had to wear something pink. And if you didn’t, you were fined," he said. "She would go around collecting the fines, and she would donate it to a charity."

The Notebook star added that creating this rule was a great opportunity for the cast to bond together and show their 'respect and admiration' for what Margot and Gerwig were trying to create. The 42-year-old actor shared that even the male crew members of the film leaned into the tradition, saying that at the end of the film they all got together with their own money to make pink crew shirts with rainbow fringe.

Gosling shared that everyone coming together felt like a moment straight out of a movie, telling People: "It was almost like that scene at the end of Dead Poets Society, where they all get on their desk and say, 'O captain! My captain!'"

Robbie also shared her admiration for her love interest and co-star Gosling in an interview with People, saying: "Ryan is the most comedically gifted actor I have ever worked with. He really is. He’s known for his dramatic acting, and rightly so. But he is unbelievably gifted with comedy, and I ruined most of his takes because I was laughing through all of it."

The talented director of the film, Gerwig, also shared her excitement for the upcoming movie at the movie's premiere in Los Angeles. The 39-year-old said that she was feeling 'very emotional' and trying to take in the moment as much as possible after all the hard work that she and all the crew members put in leading up to the premiere.

In the highly anticipated movie Barbie and Ken are living in Barbie Land, a world that seems to be perfect, but once they get to visit the real world they discover the joys and dangers of living among humans. The movie trailer and media coverage has been met with great excitement, and the movie will be officially making its debut in theatres July 21.
