Ryan Fraser in Celtic transfer link as Newcastle look to offload winger

Celtic have been linked with shock transfer move for Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser.

The Scotland international has recently been training with the Toon development squad after falling out of favour under the leadership of Eddie Howe.

Fraser was also stripped of his squad number, with new signing Tino Livramento taking over the number 21 shirt.

Despite having two years left on his current deal Fraser now looks set to depart Newcastle this summer.

The Northern Echo report that Celtic are interested in a cut-price deal as they aim to lure the winger back up north.

The report goes on to state that the Premier League outfit will not demand a big payment to get Fraser off their books.

Speaking earlier this summer Howe spoke about Fraser and his teammates Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick who are also in a similar situation.

He explained: “I think with those players, in particular, it is very difficult for us as a football club because, in an ideal world for their careers, we’d want them to go and play football and have a good career at another football club.

“But there’s all sorts of difficulties associated with it – contract length, the amount of money they are earning – and it is finding a football club that they want to go to as well. They are all great lads. I have no issue with any of them and I wish them well, but let’s see what happens.”
