Dundee United have appealed the red card shown to their captain Ryan Edwards after his sending off in Saturday's Premiership match against Hearts.
The Tangerines skipper launched himself into a tackle with Jambos midfielder Andy Halliday and made contact with both ball and man, though Nick Walsh did not hesitate to brandish the red card. Steven Fletcher's goal had Liam Fox's men 1-0 up at Tynecastle but Edwards' dismissal changed the game, with Lawrence Shankland and Alex Cochrane's goals edging Robbie Neilson's men in front before an exquisite Stephen Humphrys lob from his own half finished proceedings at 3-1 in Hearts' favour.
Nonetheless, the Tannadice side are clearly not happy about the red and have lodged an appeal to the SFA. It's the third put in to the Hampden office in just 10 days, after St Johnstone successfully overturned Nicky Clark's red card at Ibrox, while Aberdeen lost out in their pursuit of getting Ross McCrorie's dismissal versus St Mirren downgraded following an elbow on defender Charles Dunne.
A Dundee United statement read: "Dundee United have today sent a notice of claim form to the Scottish Football Association for wrongful dismissal, relating to Ryan Edwards' sending off at Tynecastle Park. The club will confirm the outcome of the appeal once we have received confirmation of the decision."
